PSA Vakansieoord

we stayed at Psa for 10 days over the Christmas period and had a lovely time. The resort is only getting a three from me due to a few things that need to be changed before it can have a higher rating. The road to the resort is not wonderful but if you take it slow then it is really not too bad. you do drive past an informal settlement but nobody bothered us day or night. The pool is big and has an ambient temperature day or night which is lovely. the ablutions are old but clean and working although not perfectly. The path to the beach is not accessible by the elderly or small children or anyone that is not fit really as it it steep and overgrown. we had to drive to Gonubie beach instead. There is no shopor kiosk currently at the resort so anything you need you have to drive into gonubie for which also isn't too much hassle but is if it's late in the day. when we arrived there was no hot water in either the mens or ladies bathrooms for the showers but by the evening that had been remedied and we had a lovely shower with plenty of hot water. We were welcomed with friendliness and helpfulness as we arrived a day earlier than planned and there was no problem. There was also no games room as advertised on the website but the next day the games room was opened and the kids had a lovely time. There is new management that has come in over the last three weeks and they are looking at everything that needs to be done and trying to make the people as happy as possible. I will go back here again as they have promised to upgrade the resort within 2019. thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with a caravan & a tent. had an absolutely peaceful and lovely time. even with the monkeys waking you up early every morning. :)

The access road is not in a good state, but is is only 4.5 km. If you take it slowly it is not so bad. The resort itself have plenty of shades, stands is clearly mark and the ablutions is adequate. It is old but was clean regularly. There was not much entertainment over the period when we where there, but this could also be due to the fact taht the resort was not fully occupied

Die Bestuurder van die oord is baie vriendelik. Ons het lekker vakansie gehou. Die kampterrein is baie mooi en netjies. Staanplek was lekker. Die mooi inheemse bome maak die kampplek privaat. Ek sal weer daar gaan kamp.

We arrived at this resort after a long drive from Durban and booked only for 1 night (fortunately!!!) as a night stop over. We used the GPS Co-ordinates to find the resort, went into Gonubie and found ourselves with our motorhome in the middle of a township. We managed to get out and find the PSA Resort (nobody answered the phone there when we tried to get the right direction, as per info we received later from the owners we called outside the official office hours, fine)- beware the last 3km of road is very bad. Arrived at the PSA the owners (friendly people) living on the premises told us that they didn't expect any guests as the school holidays were over and everybody left and the camp sides were empty. Guys we booked in advance per e-mail! and it was confirmed! So as nobody else was there we could choose where to stay overnight - I asked for the nice sea view as on their web page, however was told by the owner better not to go down there as the beach is full of squatters and not save! What a welcome, we felt great and decided to stay very close to the owners house, close to the swimming pool. We got the information needed, however the hot water in the male shower room wasn't working so we decided that the whole family uses the female ablutions which was also closer and we felt more 'save' all staying together. The toilets were not clean and the whole bathroom obviously not proper cleaned after the school holidays! In the morning we found ourselves in the bathroom with a female employee using the toilet, no knocking at the door or checking if there are guests using the facilities. The swimming pool is not save, there is no security fence and dangerous for smaller children. No shop facilities and we didn't like the atmosphere after the story of the 45.000 squatters living around. After a rather sleepless night we continued to fortunately better places and wishing you Good Luck for your future!
