Bass Lake Lodge

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bass Lake Lodge. From the time we enquired regarding availability till we left, the service was exceptional, all staff members friendly and helpful. On arrival we received a warm welcome from Ella who waited for us in the road so we did not need to get out of our car to check in - she provided us with an overview of the camp, its facilities and all. What was different to other campsites was whilst we were setting up camp, one of the staff members arrived with some ice-cold fruit juice for us - a very nice touch, especially on the day as it was very hot at the time. The resort is very nice and quiet which ensures that one could rest and enjoy the sounds of birds and animals. Yes for some the no-music and loud noise policy could be a problem, but for people who really want to enjoy nature, this is a great policy. Leisure facilities include a cold water swimming pool, fishing, bird-watching and walks, whilst there is a lodge with restaurant on the premises that serves great food. They also offer cake and coffee on Saturday mornings - the carrot cake and lemon meringue is to die for - we had some for my wife's birthday. Almost forgot, there is also a spa for those who want to spoil themselves. There is a shop with very basic things (wood, charcoal, cooldrinks, ice cream, etc.) which one is made aware of at the time you make enquiries which assisted in us ensuring that we were prepared. The shop also offers some takeaways like chips, burgers, etc., whilst they have a pool table for those who enjoy playing pool. The ablution facilities are some of the cleanest and best laid out I have seen; the showers are proper size with proper glass shower door and a separate dressing room where one can put your clothes without it getting wet - a very nice touch. They even have a room where ladies can put their beauty paint on and the dishwashing area is also great. Hot water was always available and the ablutions were cleaned on a continuous basis -with a cleaner stationed at each of the ablution seemingly there from early morning to late evening. Toilet paper, hand drying towels and handwashing liquid were also always provided. Security was top notch with the whole area covered with what seemed to be probably 6-8 feet electric fence and solid entry gates. At no point did we feel unsafe at the resort. Value for money - it could potentially be construed as being expensive, especially camping in peak season like we did; however, in the light of the quality of the service, continuous provision of hot water, quality of the ablution and other facilities, it was value for money for us. We will definitely return to Bass Lake Lodge
