What an awesome place. The road from JHB was good all the way, and the access road from the main road to camp was gravel, but fine.
There is so much to do here, and the alternate accommodation looks great. They offer an awesome pensioners discount and next time we are bringing friends, and are going to stay in the Luxury Log cabins due to the fantastic value for money they offer. ...not that the camp sites are not good value too!
We went on two great hikes. Recommend the one to the waterfall which is 4km long there and back. A little bit of rock climbing but not a problem if you are of average fitness.
They have a great shop on site and one of the better enclosed hot pools. The staff were great, and we enjoyed the game drive @ R70 pp!!
There are three resident Klipspringers in the camp. I have never been so close to a klipspringer!

What an awesome resort.
Keep in mind that we are new to this camping scene and are still learning the ins and outs. We thus find it a little difficult to rate resorts due to not knowing what other resorts offer.
BUT...
De Voetpadkloof is simply awesome. The booking of the site was easy and painless. Signing in was friendly and painless. The price was affordable if not a little lower than what we were expecting. Pleasantly surprised with the pricing in fact. As we went midweek, we were expecting to be one of a few campers, but again we were surprised by the popularity of the resort, and it was clear to see why.
The ablutions where clean at all times. Even smelt nice. The water was hot and plentiful. Always hand soap and toilet paper available.
The sites are neat and paved. Well shaded with electricity, braai and bins per site. Although we never had a tap on our site, one was situated close by and offered no inconvenience at all. Bins were emptied every morning and the braai was cleaned. The staff was some of the friendliest I have come across and not shy to give you a smile and a wave.
Leisure and facilities are a major plus point and there is more than enough to keep young and old busy for any length of stay. To name a few activities, and I may miss a few, there is a waterpark with slip n slides, Hot - warm - cold and kiddies pools, putt putt, game drives, zip lines, paint ball, hikes, fishing and bird watching. One could even spend some time just relaxing at the tea garden or pub. (I nearly forgot the kiddies play parks).
I am not up to date with my buck species but believe that I saw more than six different species just driving in and out of the resort. There was also zebra to be seen as well as nagapies jumping from limb to limb of the trees. Beautiful blue headed lizards came to visit and more birds than you can imagine.
There is a shop with a little bottle store. You will be surprised at what they stock. It may be slightly more expensive than your local supermarket, but it is a convenience store and will save you when you need it.
At no time did I feel unsafe at all. In fact, I normally lock everything away at night when camping. Here it never felt necessary, and I left my site unattended for extended periods only to return to find that nothing had been moved.
The general atmosphere was lovely. Friendly campers of all ages greeting and chatting. Lots of laughter emitting from the pool and play areas. Parents playing with their toddlers and couples sitting peaceful on their sites just observing those around them.
Awesome value for money, and not only will I return, but I would also be proud to introduce this resort to my family and friends. I look forward to being able to take my Granddaughter with some day.
Me being a GOF, there were a few things that caught my attention, so I feel that I need to add a few things that never went 100% according to expectations.
The water in the dam was not warm enough for the fish to be active and my wife caught a kurper where I did not have a bite. This is unacceptable.
The SoftServe machine was not available and although I understand why, I felt I missed a treat.
The toilet paper is only single ply.
Now if you can live with those negatives, there is no reason for you not to visit.

Dear All
We have joined our children as part of their church weekend. Overall experience was 8/10. The 4km gravel road to reception is well maintained and can be traveled with any caravan. Staff are friendly and always willing to assist, from setting up your tent to blowing out an gas oriface. Facilities are well kept and kept neat at all times, even if the park is full as per the weekend when we stayed.
One aspect to kept in mind, especially if you are a first time visitor and because stand are allocated, is to make you wishes known upfront, and the park management will accommodate you as far as possible.
One negative aspect was a group partying until 3am in the morning, disturbing the whole camp. Although Management reacted to several complaints it took them as said until 3am to sort it out and they should have reacted stronger the first time around. The rest of the weekend was without these incident.
As said initially, an enjoyable experience with our children and grandchildren in a well maintained park with nice / leveled camping sites and lots of activities to keep everyone busy if you wish to, otherwise just enjoy the camping.
Regards Arnold

Hengel word op "catch and relaease" basis gedoen. Stort hokke is lekker ruim.
