The Trekkers Laager IX gathering at The Willows Resort in July 2026 was filled with camaraderie, laughter, and tradition. Despite a few apologies from absent members, the weekend saw visitors, prospectives, and reunion guests join in the fun.

Key highlights included:

• 🙌 Special Thanks – To the John family as Master and Scribe, Jan & Natalie for oyster shooters, the ladies for salads, Grootendorst for rolls, and everyone who contributed wood, snacks, and animal welfare donations.

• 🏆 Floating Trophies – Awards passed on included the Moerstok, Spanner, Spoon, Woody, Sanitation, Fishing, Putt‑Putt, Darts, and Potjiekos trophies, with reminders to hand them over at the next outing or face escalating fines.

• 🎖️ Participation Badges – Awarded to Riley, Sophia, Rone, Chelsea, and Troy.

• 👏 Congratulations – To Jan, Natalie, and Amie Pitout on officially making the cut as members.

• 🦊 Jakkals Tradition – Darren raised R184, with the reminder that Jakkals must always be handed over to someone of the opposite sex — and no refusals allowed!

Important notices emphasized mindful language around children, commemorative planning, and continued support for animal welfare collections. Members were also reminded to bring trophies, darts, wood, potjie pots, and rugby gear for the upcoming Sitrusoewer outing (21–23 August 2026), which will feature a mystery orchard walk, televised SA vs NZ rugby, and a potjiekos competition.

Birthdays for August were also celebrated, including Sonja Jooste, Hayden John, Rone Tenner, Amanda De Wet, Troy Roberts, and Louwrens De Wet.
