If you search online for camping park fires, you’ll find several recent reports—particularly from the United States—highlighting the risks associated with open flames, gas appliances, and electrical equipment in camping environments. Fortunately, this has not become a major concern in South Africa. However, while we sincerely hope it never does, fire safety is a responsibility we take seriously at Modubu Lodge Camping.

We have proactively prepared for potential fire emergencies by installing two easily accessible 5kg stored-pressure dry powder extinguishers. Dry powder extinguishers are especially suited to camping environments, as they are effective against:

• Open fires

• Gas stoves and LPG cylinders

• Flammable fuels such as petrol and paraffin

• Electrical fires

The extinguishers are conveniently positioned at each end of the ablution facilities for quick access, while hose reels have been strategically placed among the camping sites to ensure they are within easy reach from any stand.

Although we hope these safety measures will never need to be used, we believe that preparedness is essential. Managing risk responsibly forms part of our commitment to providing a secure and welcoming environment for every guest.
