The September 2026 outing to Fish Eagle River Lodge provided the perfect escape for members of the Trekkers Outdoor Recreation Club. Set alongside a scenic river with lush green surroundings and well-maintained camping facilities, the weekend offered campers a chance to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the outdoors.

The weekend began with strong winds challenging campers during setup, but quick thinking and a bit of "McGyver" ingenuity saved the day when a vital awning component was accidentally left at home. With some creative problem-solving, the awning was successfully erected, allowing everyone to enjoy a comfortable braai and evening around the fire.

As the weather improved, campers spent their days relaxing by the river, catching up with friends, exploring the resort, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. New additions to the resort, including a swimming pool and shaded relaxation area, added to the appeal, while the honesty shop provided handy supplies such as firewood and locally prepared olives.

The remainder of the weekend was blessed with excellent weather, leisurely breakfasts, riverside shade, and plenty of camaraderie. Members reflected on what a memorable and enjoyable outing it had been, with many agreeing that Fish Eagle River Lodge is well worth revisiting in the future.
