Laager 18 gathered at Glen Muir from 14–16 August 2026 for a fantastic weekend hosted by the Zimmerman family, enjoying beautiful weather, spectacular sea views, fishing adventures, and plenty of camping fun.
One of the highlights was the Big Fish Challenge, where Tim and David competed to see who could land the biggest catch. The competition brought plenty of excitement, fishing stories, and ultimately a delicious reward when the campers were treated to freshly caught fish prepared on the braai.
As the temperatures dropped in the evening, everyone gathered around the fire pit to stay warm. Tim’s new braai-blower helped get the fire roaring, creating the perfect atmosphere for good conversation, laughter, and a few glasses of red wine. The evening carried on well into the night, ending with another Laager favourite — midnight braai sandwiches around the fire.
The weekend also delivered its fair share of humour. Zimmy provided some unexpected entertainment by creating the impression that he was leaving the park, only to drive around it instead, resulting in the Wittstock family receiving the famous Speedometer Award. It was yet another moment that added to the stories and laughter shared throughout the outing.
More than just a camping trip, the Glen Muir weekend reminded everyone that Trekkers outings are about friendship, fresh air, shared experiences, and creating lasting memories around the campfire. It was a weekend where the fires burned brightly, the stories grew taller, and everyone left looking forward to the next adventure.
