Keeping Curious Campers (and Baboons) Out of the Bins at Modubu Lodge
When camping in the bushveld, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll share the surroundings with some curious primates. While fascinating to watch from a distance, baboons and monkeys are well known for their ability to raid unprotected dustbins, creating quite a bit of chaos around campsites.
At Modubu Lodge, we believe that creating a true bushveld sanctuary where peace and tranquillity flourish comes down to paying attention to the small but important details that make a big difference to our guests’ experience.
One of those details is our thoughtfully designed dustbin system. All dustbins at the lodge are fitted with a simple yet highly effective locking mechanism that prevents curious hands — and paws — from getting inside. This helps keep the campsite clean and prevents unwanted wildlife interactions.
Even better, the bins are designed to be opened easily with one hand. We know that when you’re camping, your other hand is often holding a plate, a bag, or something that needs to be thrown away — so convenience matters.
It’s a small but practical touch that helps keep the campsite tidy, reduces animal disturbances, and allows guests to enjoy a more relaxed and hassle-free camping experience.
Just another way Modubu Lodge quietly works behind the scenes to ensure your time in the bush remains peaceful… while gently keeping Benson the baboon at bay!
