Hi All

The fridge in our 2008 Gypsey Rhapsody has stopped cooling.

It looks to be the original D220, the compressor runs but it does not cool.

Are there any recommendations for Caravan repair centres in the broader Pretoria/JHB/West Rand area?

Sollys and Louis's caravan repairs have come up as reputable, has anybody used them for this type of work.

I would prefer to replace (Sollys agrees)  but given the size of the opening of the door I am not quite sure how you would even do this!

David, it is removed through a window.  If the fridge door is removed it is slightly smaller.

Yskas vervang is maklik, uit en in by die venster, hy moet verkieslik net in die gat pas anders is dit kas modifikasies... My penta se kas bo is oop gesny om daai KIC te vat, maar vas op die vloer, ek het hom net weer geplak met sikaflex net om seker te maak dat hy nie uitval miskien.

So gekoop so ek sou dit nie gedoen het nie maar wel hy is in en dis groot yskas... genoeg plek vir koue biere

Thank you for the advice Butts, unfortunately the Rhapsody doesnt have a "large" window. The maximum opening I have is 510mm with the door being 520mm.

The only fridge I have found that will fit in the "hole" is the Hisense h235rre-wd as its height is 1260 with my current fridge being 1290. It is slightly narrower as well at 510mm.

I have checked and I can take the doors off and I found a post on the forum from quite a while back whereby that member cut off the "radiator".

Baie dankie Pontius, waardeer die raad! Die enigste yskas wat pas in die opening is die Hisense h235rre-wd. Ongelukkig lyk dit asof my vensters net daai klein bietjie te klein is (ons het die Rhapsody) en ek sal die deur moet gebruik (520mm wyd vensters is op maksimum 510mm).

Bly weg van HISENSE... Ek het 2 appliance's.. my bier yskas en my wasmasjien... Al 2 gemors... Net probleme sover met al 2 en redelik nuut

Moet Noem.. compressor op die yskas gegroet in 2 jaar, kry hom terug toe brand die plug op compressor af... Wasmasjien se elektroniese panel Al 2 keer gegroet..  sal niks Hisense in my lewe weer koop nie

David, to answer your original question, contact CMC caravan modification in Campdor road Krugersdorp, tel 082 416 1991.

They specialise in modifications and up grades. They also manufacture Gecko off road caravans

To remove the fridge is not that big an issue. They usually have some wooden screws that secure them at the back.  You should be able te reach them through the back vents. and then some screws from below if you have a storage area below the fridge.

My daughter has this fridge in her caravan and I think it will fit in your Van.

It works of 12V and you can connect Solar panels directly to it through a Brad-harison plug or it runs of 220V.  The fridge it self has all the wiring and features inside to accomodate the AC/DC.

Dalk is dit nie nodig om die yskas uit die karavaan te haal nie.  Dit klink vir my asof die gas uitgelek het en om dit te vervang kan binne die karavaan gedoen word.  Sommige yskasherstelmense wil die yskas na hulle perseël neem sodat hulle na die herstelwerk dit behoorlik kan toets maar hulle sal dalk bereid wees om die werk in die karavaan te doen as gevolg van die kompleksiteit om die yskas te verwyder.

Nog all my yskas herstelwerk was by my huis gedoen waar die yskas staan. Ek het nooit n' foutiewe yskas na n' werkswinkel gevat nie. Die bedryf vra wel n' uitroep fooi. R600.
