Over night stop in Bloemfontein

We are yet to try River of Joy which is before Bloem. Brian was very happy with it.

Also to get to RP you pass Makro. And there are a number of shopping centres not too far from RP towards the centre of Bloem.
There are a number of 'one stops' on the N1 by pass route.

Not having been that way before , are there any one stops / ultra city's on the N6,
planning my route from Blyde Canyon forever resort to yellow sands in may next year.......

Daardie dae was daar net eintlik by Queenstown goeie vulstasies met eetplekke.

Just zoom in to the map and you will see if they are Ultra City and 1Stops to make sure some of them are just normal garages and not full Ultra City and 1 Stops.

10 Jan, 2026 @ 13:36:40 pmOns gaan by Reyneke Park oorstaan met die opgaan na die Wille Kruger asook met die afkom-slag. Ons het mooi dinge van die park gehoor en vertrou dat ons nie teleurgestel gaan wees ni.

1]River of Joy, self nog nie daar gestaan nie
2] Reynecke park, selwers baie lank terug daar oorgeslaap. Goed om te hoor dis steeds 'n wenner.
Het iemand al gebruik gemaak van Maselspoort???
10 Jan, 2026 @ 15:01:59 pmOns het in die laat 90's by twee geleenthede by Maselspoort oorgestaan. Toe was dit heel netjies. Ek het verneem dit is nie meer so "hot" nie. Al schlep was om vanaf die Kaapse kant eers deur Bloemfontein te ry. En die pad vanaf Maselspoort tot by die N1 (tussen Bloem en Winburg) het ook veel te wense oorgelaat.
Kyk bietjie na die "ratings" vir Maselspoort op hierdie webblad - veral die voorlaaste kommentaar. Dit is presies soos ek ook die paaie na dié oord ervaar het.
10 Jan, 2026 @ 17:02:18 pmDie Kooperasie by Smithfield se Diesel was laas jaar redelik goedkoper, moet net nie met 'n lang wa probeer deurry nie.
Ek moes die 2 x pooitjies van die stays gaan optel.
Kan nie die dorp onthou nie, daar is 'n BKB Kooperasie vulstasie - R2 Vir die silwerskoon ablusie is by verre die moeite werd.
As jy op die N6 inkom vanaf Ooslondon, dan sit die garage op jou linkerhand.
11 Jan, 2026 @ 10:18:21 amReynecke Park is bes;is aan te bevele. Die enigste negatiewe is dat dit naby die Bloem-Kimberleypad is en swaar vragmotors gebruik deurnag die pad. Maar as jy lank gery het, slaap jy goed so jy hoor dit skaars. Hulle is ook hondvriendelik met 'n ekstra fooitjie vir Woef.
12 Jan, 2026 @ 07:55:59 amRiver of Joy net noord van Bloem is n hane tree van die N1. N6 is n mooi pad en jy kan dalk by Valschfontein oornag. Die pad na aan Yellow Sands in BAIE hobbelrug, ry maar stadig en geniet Yellow Sands.

Bietjie Rus, also near the N1 (about 2km) on the southern side of Bloem. Cannot seem to find much info on it. Has anyone used it as a stop over before?
Some of the pictures I‘ve seem pretty good.
*edit* just seen some more pics on facebook could well be a good stop over spot in Bloem

Just received feedback from them, for pensioners R300 per night.

September 2022 rate - Camping at River of Joy for Pensioners @ R270 for two. Ablution with hot showers. 220V Power points.

They have private ablutions
2025 we never stopped at Bloem, we stopped at Kroonstad APK , then on to Gariep on the way down. Coming back we did stop @ Reynecke Park - rate was R360
