I have an Aero 4L Jurgens Caravan '84 and it has a Consul Junior fridge installed, I am looking for a service and operation manual for both caravan and fridge. The fridge has stopped working and I am battling to get the front plate off. Any tips/information will be most welcome 

Hi Leo, welcome to the forum. Not sure if you recently bought your caravan, but hope you will have good times and grand memories with it. '84 is long ago. I sincerely hope someone can assist you. I believe there is so much experience on this forum; if you don't get it here, it probably does not exist anymore.

I did pick up the following on the internet regarding the panel, hope it helps. Also, read that the Consul fridges are very temperamental, possibly a good idea to see if at some stage you get a more reliable replacement?

This is what I found: 

• Locate Hinges: Find the hinges at the top and bottom of the fridge door.
• Unscrew: Remove the screws holding the hinges in place.
• Remove Door: Carefully lift the door off the fridge.

• Locate the Panel Channel: Look for a thin, sliding channel along the edge of the door (often at the top or bottom, sometimes behind a small plastic trim).
• Remove Plastic Trim: If the edge is covered by a plastic strip, remove the screws (usually tiny Phillips heads) holding the trim in place.
• Slide Panel Out: Slide the decorative panel out of the frame.
• Note: In some cases, the door frame must be partially disassembled by removing corner screws to release the panel.

Hi Leo.  Welcome to the forum.  Hope to hear more from you in the future.  Dries found some good info and I really hope that it would be ideal to get the job done.

I do not know the fridge that you have.  But trust that it is an absorbtion fridge that can work from 220V mains and gas.  If this is the case, the coolant in the fridge pipes are a mixture of amoniac that boils at a very low temperature. then the boiling bubbles push the amoniac up in the thinner pipes to the evaporator inside the fridge. There it  expands into the evaporator and thickker pipes causing the cooling effect and flows down to the lower parts where it is pushed up again.

The problem with this coolant is if the fridge is OFF, the amoniac may cristalize and cause the pipes to block then the coolant can not flow through the pipes any more.  This is fix-able by removing the fridge and turning it upside down. Doing this you will hear the coolant flowing through the pipes.  It will also help to tap the pipes lightly with a rubber mallet.  It is advised that you do this a few times so that the flowing amoniac can desolve the cristals causing the blockage. The more the better.

If the electrical element is working fine or the gas burner works fine the fridge should work okay again if the cristals got sorted properly.

You will see a very thin pipe going back to the storage tank at the bottom, heat this pipe slightly with a blow torch... That's where the blockage occurs... Don't overheat 

Thanks guys, i will give it all a try, part of my problem is that i cannot remove the steel plate right at the bottom, i have loosened the plat and ait moves about 4mm, but cannot remove it, so i am concluding i have to pull the whole fridge out, i see 4 screws, two on each side, are there any hidden screws that i need to know about - unfortunatly i am not a patient person, so am concerned i might break something  -- it is a consul junior fridge gas/electric
