Ek het nou al twee woonwaens (Exclusive en n' Classique) gesien wat "Tape" all langs die aluminium sprofiles aan weers kante van die dak bo op die dak het. Dit lyk soos Duct Tape maar ek kan mos nou nie daar op klim nie en die eienaars sê hulle het die woonwa so gekoop. Dit stop waneer die plat gedeelte van die dak ophou.

Die Exclusive was RichardJ syn.

Wat en waarvoor is dit?

 Ek was eendag by n ou wat besig was om n Exclusive se badkamer oor te doen. Hy se dit is die algemeenste plek waar water inkom in die exclusive en die classique. Daai silver strip op die dak. Dis dalk hoekom daar tape op is.

My classique het ook die tape geplak.

Dit is darm wit.

Dit wil vir my voorkom dat veral Exclusive opbou en lek.

My buurman het sy hele dak oorgetrek met "Ripstop", want hy reken as dit reen wil hy nie 2x "Shower" nie.

Gelukkig het ek met die Penta nie daardie probleem nie.

Al wat probleem is:

Naby my is Å„ "Peul Boom" waar miere is.

As die wind bietjie waai val die "Bliksems" op my dak.

Ek het nou "Biokill Extreme" by NTK gekry en probleem is opgelos.

Die "Moere" loop vinnig weg as hulle op my dak val.

Jin hulle syn het wit of silwer gelyk. Altwee is van die wes kaap so dit is snaaks dat joune dit ook het. Tensy Campworld dit nationaal standaard op sit?

Beste is, kry "Biokill Extreme" en spuit daar tydens kamp.

Biokill Extreme is siklonies en verdamp nie, asook was nie weg as dit reen nie.

Ek spuit ons Penta die hele omtrek, "Roof Serounding en Steadies ens.."

So lyk die houer.

Ons het die van nuut gekoop, so ek neem aan dit is voorkomend.

Daar is een op albei kante.

Thanks for the photo Richard. Yes that is the tape I am refering to. I think it leak preventitive sealing. But what tape is it.

Alfred from One Stop Caravans resealed my Exclusive. He cut off the black edge sticking out to the right of the aluminium profile and then sealed the joint with Sikaflex.

I think that tape is a quicker fix for achieving water proofing.

As mentioned it appears transparent/opaque. It looks like a strip of plastic.

It is not duct tape, nor aluminium backed bitumen.

It might be worth it to apply whatever it is as a water sealer to conventional caravans to prevent leaking. If we can only find out what it is?

It won't be Duct tape. Duct tape will come off. I used it to seal joints in my tarpalin and it soon came off.

I went to Discovery Campworld yesterday and asked the work shop manager what that tape is. He said it is called Extreme Sealing Tape made by 3M and it is available at the big hardware stores. I googled it and was shocked at the cost. It costs R700 for 50mm x 5.5 meters.

But wood rot will cost you much more to fix.

Sien daar is verskillendes en op een youtube praat die ou dat jy 'n primer (seker skooner maak goed) moet aan sit na jy die plek skoon gemaak het.  Ek sie nie waar hulle praat van die UV protection nie.

I am trying to get some of this 3M Extreem Sealing tape but the 3M rep says there is none in the country and will take 4 months? to bring it in. I think that is rediculous unless it is imported on foot.

I was looking at an alternative. It is called Gorilla Crystal Clear Tape in 48mmx8.2meters which costs ~R280. Does any one know/has used this tape. It is freely available at ODW, Makro etc. It is UV resistant and does not yellow outdoors. It is a weatherproof, airtight, crystal-clear tape.
