Has anyone camped at Olienhof Caravan Park in Prince Albert?

I am leaving tomorrow to spend a week there. I have stayed in Prince Albert 5 times in the past 13 years, but always stayed in Self Catering places. It is a lovely karroo dorpie and there is lots to do there. Swartberg Pass, De Hell, nice restaurants and coffee shops, karroo lamb to eat, nice hikes etc etc.

I see Flip and Tilla rate the park 8/10 which is encouraging. I did a search here for posts on it but nothing at all.

I shall upload pics and feedback from there next week if there is 3G.

Dorian. I can really reccommend the place as it is really nice. Fuller report and photo's to follow.

Brian, I did ask about monthly rates and pensioners discount but there are none. R60.00pppn is their rate which is very resonable for a short stay but not so much for a longer stay.

My brother in law took a ride into Bushmans Valley yesterday on his mountain bike and said it was extremely "rustic". Definitely  for the campers who like roughing it.

As for Olienhof, Lien has actually summed it up very well. Old but spotlessly clean and spacious ablutions. Nice touches like hand towels and handwash. Nice level and grassed sites with plenty of shade.

I have taken a few photo's around the campsite, around the town, on a lovely hike on a koppie above the town and vists to wine cellars in the Prince Albert Valley out towards Meiringspoort.

The campsite is on a working olive farm on the outskirts of the town. As said before, the ablutions are pretty old but very clean. Wendy, the manager is very frendly and helpful. There is no security whatsover but felt safe and comfortable as I do not think that crime is a problem here.

Thre are lots of restaurants and coffee shops but can recommend the Lazy Lizzard for coffee  breaks and lunch. Lovely home made Karroo lamb pie with vegetables R65.00. Gays Dairy for milk and really great cheeses. We are taking home lots of cheese. The local butcher in the main street makes the best wors I have tasted in years, also taking home a good supply. We had Karroo lamb chops and his wors on the braai last night and T-Bones tonight.

Sadly we pack up on Sunday but have had a lovely week here. There is just something very special about the Karroo.

Alhoewel ons nog nooit by Olienhof gekamp het nie, het ek al meermale daar gaan inloer - die laaste keer was Nov 2023. Dit is baie basies, maar netjies. Ons bly gewoonlik in my swaer se huis wat eens my skoonouers se dorpshuis was. My vrou is 'n boorling van Prins Albert en het kort-kort die behoefte om weer haar kinderspore te gaan opsoek.
