Kimberley caravanparks
On the Cape Town side of Kimberley is a very nice park for a stopover. It is about 30km from Kimberley and only 1 km (Tar road) to their gates.

I suggest you find out, closer to December what the state of the N12 road is between Ritchie and Britstown. In March this year we had no less than 20 "stop and go's".
Thanks for that Garth.
At the same time – end March – I went to Port Elizabeth straight from our Koro-Koro rally for the Easter Week end. We went via Bloemfontein and turned off the N1 at Colesberg.
We had only one or two “stop goes” between Bloem & Colesberg. I do not know if there were any between Colesberg and Three Sisters just before Beaufort West where you would have connected to the N1.
Between Colesberg and Cradock there were about a million “stop – goes” on the N10 to Port Elizabeth!

We camped for a week in Dec 2010 at the municipality's caravan park at the entrance of the "Big Hole". Nice stands and clean abblutions. This is the new municipality park not the old one. You can contact the municipality for reservations. There were quite a lot of people staying for the night as a stop over. There is suppose to be a guard at the gate but don't count on it, nevertheless we never lost anything during our stay.

Hi Naas,
If you travelling from J.H.B or P.T.A. I would travel on the N1 to Bloem,& then take the N8 to Kimberly road conditions a lot better.Mokala national park 80 km's south of Kimberly is worth a visit.I don't know if you have a 4x4 caravan or camping in a tent, either one is fine for Mokala. If you have a normal caravan you would need to check with the park first if you could go.When I went when it first opened the sand road to get to the park was badly corrugated, there is no way a normal caravan would make it.They always seem to be upgrading as it is a fairly new park.So you would need to CHECK with them first.
