Dogs again...
Ok... So there is no side that "wins"... What's better? Pistol or revolver... Same thing...
But let's talk about what can be done, to live with pet's at a resort...
1) Running lead
Peg a length of rope along the ground, with 2 stoppers in the rope which are further than the length of the dogs teather (leash) inside the pegs, so that the teather cannot get tangled in the pegs. Slip the end of the teather on the rope between the stoppers.
Do not use a collar to teather the dog, use a harness. Make sure the harness is a good quality one.
Us a different leash to walk the dog. never clip the dog loose from both the teather and the leash, clip the leash first, then remove the teather... ESPECIALLY if woofie is a Foxy / Yorky they bugger off at a rate of knots!
Place bedding within the range of the teather with food & water..
2) Benching
Some dogs are just plain orney, and will go for anybody that comes near your pitch. Now personally, as Scruffy is part of my security multipliers, I kinda support her, but it would be a big problem if the "other" was an innocent child...
So, the answer to this is to "bench".
Peg 4 stakes around the limit of your dogs range when he is teathered and coupled to the running lead, and de-marcate with bunting. Bunting can be a piece of ropw with bits of plastic bag tied to it, all the way round... Stick up a sign beware of dog, this is his range...
3) Poop....
Nobody likes to carry a poop scoop in the van... Cut a 2L coke bottle's bottom and make one out of that . For the brush again, cut the bottom off a 1L Coke bottle so that you can push the doo-doo into the 2L bottle with the 1L
Dispose of the doo-doo into a supermarket bag, with some sand, & tie closed then put into a dutsbin.
When you leave, simply throw the bottles away... See! no carting a poop scoop in your R350,000.00 caravan!
4) Sex...
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ! Nee sies man! You guys! incorragable! (Kyk die woord van n boertjie)
If you are outdoors people, It's far easier to manage a bitch that a dog. Think about that when you are thinking of having travelling pets.. Oh, and spay her... The last thing you want is to have her come into season when you are on your annual vacation...
5) The pee..
males will mark terratory. To do this they lift their leg. To lift their leg, they need a post, and a tent pole will do just nicely thank you!
There are 3 options here. a) Spay if the dog is young, then he most probibly will squat. b) kee him away from other peoples sites c) Train to pee on command. (I recommend this option as it eliminates all the problems)
WHAT????
Yes.. Train to pee on command! Takes time but it is 100 % do-able I can vouch for that.
Every time the dog pees, give a loooong whistle and when the dog is done, reward with a tiny piece of biltong and lot's of praise... After a while, when the dog starts to pee unbidden (before you've given the whistle), pull hard on the leash, a harsh NO and walk to the next good-place-to-pee give your whistle an wait for the dog to pee, then reward..
Your dog will amaze you and you will anaze your friends..
Anyhow, these are just some of the ways that you can be pet-friendy to other campers..
Any suggestions other than leave the dog....?
These days a teeny-tiny bit more slightly quicker....

Hi C..
Not about dogs, about security.
By the time they are that close that "electronics" trugger, as far as I'm concerned it is already too late.
My security hinges on becoming aware that there is apotential intruder long before they get close so that I can enforce compliance at a relatively safe distance.
Especially since I often camp solo and remote.
Scruffy is therefore key in my arrangements... And by all indications (sh is still young) she's gonna do a darn fine job...
Again, security and arrangements, should be a discussion of Ideas

I have done a series of articles on "camping with your dog" as I spent almost ten years camping in about 80 different caravan parks a year with our dog. There is five or six articles in that section that covers all basic info on camping with a pet.

BIG TIME!!
Willie hy lyk of hy n propeler het

Warren, well trained....
There are inconsiderate smokers, pet owners and I suppose many others. Likewise there are campers who refuse to show empathy with or consider a situation of the unwelcome presence of nuisance pets roaming a campsite.
If one can keep one's pet inside one's caravan or tent then fellow campers have no objection to one torturing the poor animal. If one wants to allow it to pester other campers then one should not complain about possible unpleasant outcomes.
