Black mould
Thanks
Paul
Paul
Haven't got a clue what you talking about. Do you have any pictures?
Welkom op die forum.
Paul it sounds like you have condensation issues. Black marks on a camp tent are normally either charcoal from a braai fire or mould. Whatever you do do not use any detergent (soap) on the tent as this will damage the waterproofing of the canvas. Use water only with vinegar. If it is mould on inside of caravan you can use a mild detergent and damp cloth there. Unfortunately once established, mould is difficult to get rid of especially in a damp climate and this is the same as what one can get in a shower / bathroom.
I would try some pool chlorine water to spray on. Let it stand a few minutes and wipe off.

More, het jy n nuwe tipper gekry?

Back with the MOULD.
We sometimes get this mould in the shower even though I scrub the tiles with Handy Andy.
I then spray the mould with the pool chlorine solution a few times during the day and by the time we shower again in the evening the mould is gone.

Very strong. We take about half a cup of chlorine with 2 liters of water. Mix in a bucket, the water and chlorine should be a white milky colour. Then throw the solution in a cheap hand spray bottle. Take care not to throw the chlorine that did not disolve in as well, as this will block the spraypick up.
Spray wait for it to work and dry. Spray and wait spray and wait about 45min intervals. In a shower three to 4 times should do the trick depending on the amount of mould. Emty the last of the contents of spray bottle in the drain of the shower and rise it properly. If you don't the chlorine solution will make the plastic of the spray bottle brittle and it then brakes next time you want to use it.
Take care of this solution with small kids around! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
The shower even smell nice and clean afterwards.

If your canvas camping tent has fallen victim to mold and/or mildew deposits, you can effectively clean it with an easy-to-make homemade cleaning solution. To make this solution, combine the following:
¼ cup of white wine vinegar
1 cup of water
Mix inside of an empty spray bottle and shake thoroughly. Now, unfurl the tent and lay it atop a clean surface. Spray your cleaning solution onto any mold or mildew-infested areas and allow it to sit for several minutes. Then you can scrub away any mold and mildew deposits with a sponge, paper towel, scrub brush or washcloth. Continue to repeat this process until your canvas tent has been completely purged of mold and mildew.
Once all traces of growth have been removed, fill a second empty spray bottle with warm water, and use it to rinse off your cleaning solution. Promptly dry the freshly cleaned area(s) with a dry cloth or paper towel. If you let the water sit too long, the moisture could cause more mold and mildew to form.
What I would like to know is how to prevent mould forming on my tents.
