Ons beplan om volgende jaar in Suid-Namibië te gaan kamp.  Ons was nog nooit daar nie en wil hoor of iemand goeie karavaanparke kan aanbeveel. Ons wil gedurende die Julie-skoolvakansie gaan en wil toer vanaf die Visrivier-Canyon tot by Keetmanshoop. Ons het nou al gehoor van plekke soos Noordoewer, Ai-Ais, Grunau en Springbok.

Hester, Ons beplan ons eerste Namibie toer oor dieselfde tydperk, maar ons wil graag tot in die noorde gaan en dan deur Botswana terugkom.

Ek weet nie van die Suide nie maar die Noorde het ons hierdie jaar gedoen tot in die Caprivi en dit was awesome.Die plekke is nie so duur nie meeste plekke is onder R300/nag vir 6 persone dit is net Ethosha wat buitensporig is R250 p.p/nag.Daar is baie websites.By die grens tussen Namibia en Botswana Easgate Rest Camp(lieflik na die lang rit)By Otjewerongo Ombo Rest Camp baie nice.Swakopmund Alte Brüke (baie nice met jou eie ablusie geriewe en stoepie met ingeboude braai en lowergroen gras)By Brandberge White Lady Lodge(baie nice net nie krag nie en baie grondpad maar so na aan natuur as kan kom)By Tsumeb Kupfher Quelle lieflikke kamp met die beste fasiliteite wat jy nog gesien het(Enigste Dross in Namibia groen gras lieflike ablusie geriewe olimpiese swembad nice braai ens.)Bo in Caprivi is daar baie kampe teen die Kavango rivier kyk onder Divundu Game Park

Just some information for you on a recent trip to that area.  we went there in july this year.  towed a normal road caravan with two wheel drive xtrail no problems except for a flat on the car.  the gravel roads to ai ais from the main tar road are both good.  we went there on the upper one (from the orange river border perspective) and returned on the lower one that goes alomost directly to noordoewer.  Keep your speed down though (especially if using afront wheel drve car) as road is dangerous if travelling too fast

AI AIS

I can recommend aiais.  reasonable costs for caravanning/camping.  ablutions are good and the place is great.  only basic foods at the camp shop.  the place has recently been renovated.  take plenty rands as sometimes bank cards do not work.  spa is great.  check with your bank beforehand that your credit and debit cards will work there.

AQUACADE

This place is in south africa on the border and is recommended.  we only stayed here one night and wished we could have stayed for longer.

HOBAS

This camp is at the canyon viewpoint.  very basic.  if you intend wanting to spend a lot of time at the canyon then spend a night or two here.  if you have children as i do then ai ais is better as more for them to do and then only do a day trip up to the canyon from ai ais

NOROTSHAMA

I have not been here but i believe it is very good.  it is on the orange river on the namibia side.

WHEN TRAVELLING IN THIS AREA

Try and take two spare wheels or make sure you are able to repair your tyre.  carry additional food and water.  The roads are lonely and long.  ensure your tyres are good.  i went there with suspect tyres and got a flat. 

NAMIBIA TOURISM

Visit your local namibia tourism office if there is one near you or contact the one in cape town   www.namibiatourism.com.na  whom i found very useful.  They have some useful pamplets on safety, etc travelling in this area.  avoid taking a laptop through the border at vioolsdrif, it is just time consuming having re-importation forms fillied in on SA side.  namibias side is a bit slow but no problems.

SPRINGBOK

We overnighted at the Springbok Caravan Park and it was OK.  ablutions Ok as well.  There is also the Goegap nature reserve if you intend spending a lot of time there it may be nicer to go to, we have not been there.  I stayed at the Kokerboom motel caravan park many years (20) ago and it was great. check them out on internet.
