Starlink is trying their best

Ja wel. I am monitoring the starlink facebook page. Everyone that bought a Starlink or a Starlink Mini in some other country experience connection problems here in SA. The service is only available for a certain period then it is switched off.
The individual Starlink must go back to country of origin it seems for it to be activated again.
So yes I am still in the market for such a device but the politics around it makes me sceptical.
Time will tell.
Sonder Jesus is ek niks! ! ! !
Leon I thought you had already orded one. If the service was available l would get a Starlink mini. Hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later.

Setting up the Starlink is way easier than the TV dish due the number of overhead satellites compared to the TV signal. Starlink has an App to assist if you have issues in aligning the dish.
The antenna is omnidirectional. You just place it in an open space with the flat receiving side facing skyward.
No alignment with GEO stationary satellite required.

The costs (hardware and Subscription) will only be fixed once the service becomes available. I‘ve seen prices of about R7000 for hardware and monthly subscriptions starting at R450 pm. So we will have to wait and see what happens when it becomes available.
The monthly costs will obviously depend on what package and speed one requires.
That sounds more acceptable but is this correct? According to what I found on intertnet, the monthly fee in most countries is the equavalent of R1260 and I did not see anything about choices. But this is of academic interest for me as I am not in the market for Starlink.
Me too.
I can however see the benefits to rural communities especially if the service is made available via a hotspot to the community.
In Namibia and Botswana all the camping sites had WiFi internet for free.

Leon I thought you had already orded one. If the service was available l would get a Starlink mini. Hopefully it will happen sooner rather than later.
Yes I did order one. But placed the order on hold due to the signal being switched off here in SA. This is even applicable to members from other countries when they bring the Starlink with their visit to SA. The service will only be on for about a month or two if they plan a long stay, then the system must go back to registered country to be reactivated again. This is the current "Norm" in SA
So I am following the Starlink SA page on facebook to see if there are changes to the norm. These are mostly people that already has a Starlink device. Got some info last night that Elon Musk will be supporting BEE in SA which means that Starlink availability is closer than we think IF THIS IS TRUE.
Lets see.......... Time will tell.
Sonder Jesus is ek niks! ! ! !
I see Starling seems to be available with the "location mask" so you won't need to cross borders from SA to reactivate the system.
Starlink Mini going for between R6400- R7700 including the LocMask
Monthly subscriptions begin at R677, varying by region. No binding contracts - use, pause, and resume whenever it suits you!

Eish I would realy like to get this...........................................
