I think you are just upset because of the dog matters. Your negative points are really not that bad. I rather have an "inquisitive" manager for a resort, who are clearly making sure all is going well, rather than someone who couldn't care less.

You firstly state: "Even though dogs are not allowed during high season" - so this was a long standing rule.  And then "This time however we discovered that the rules have suddenly changed." Clearly nothing has changed, but the relaxation of the rule was not repeated. I can totally understand that a rule might be relaxed at some occasion, but then you expect the same year-after-year.

Management deal with all sorts of problems and problematic guests. People who would make a huge hoorah, when they are actually not keeping to the rules. It's in the interest of all paying guests to apply their rules.

Call me stupid, but it's the first time I hear of a diabetic dog.

My comment here is not to fight or take you on personally. But I think based on this I really think you are bad-mouthing the resort unfairly.

I am really the last person that wants to bad mouth a resort, but I am not sure when scottburgh was a pleasant place anyways?

Went from medolino in port alfred directly to scottburgh and regret it till this day, and that was already 2004! Never went back again, and will never.. 

We never saw clean ablutions, the dust was terrible, over xmas we had to sit and watch our caravans, and overall felt like we werent camping,or rekaxing. Terrbke time, and maybe only 1 of a small few that I regret camping there at all..

Nevertheless, it is my opinion, I just wonderedwhy people went there? This town house story has been going even in 2004 when we were there, I wish they could get it over and done with..

I have akways wished for a time to camp at scottburgh, and when you get there, it is just not what I expected, it was a true let down..

Diabetic dog? I now know of 4.. very sorry to hear that, and so glad you are actually letting the dog live its life, and making the sacrifices you do. Well done.

Its not the rules that changed, the priviledges you had changed, without courtesy of infirming you..

Try Tobi at Umtentwenie had several very plesant holiday's there, He is the owner and lives in the park.

Very helpful very clean dogs permitted, (he has dogs as well)

Last year I started a thread "Scottburgh se toekoms". I cannot make any negative comments about the staff during the period we visited. However, it would not surprise me if facilities do start to deteriorate. Who in their right minds would invest money when you know the Umdoni Municipality intends to close you down as soon as they can secure funding for their grandiose plans. The Wimpy was apparently already a victim of politcal infighting.

I happened to see a person walk through the park with his little Jack Russel. It happened to be someone we knew from elsewhere (it is a small world!). He was just taking a walk through the park and happened to know the owners. That accounts for one known dog. What is of concern is that anyone can access the park from the beach side. If the person looks respectable, he or she might easily be mistaken for a camper. Maybe that explains the regular spying on site.

In all likelihood the owners want to try and get something out before the whole house of cards come tumbling down. Hopefully they will be adequately reimbursed if the Municipality goes ahead with its plans. Looking at how they dealt with the Wimpy, I wouldn't hold out any hopes.

This is why it is so important to support resort owners and give constructive criticism, where required. You never know when we may lose another resort. For every resort that closes down, there are more people fighting for fewer camping spots.

Your plus points are exactly the reason we allways enjoy our stay here. I note you were there when the resort is very busy over December. Glad to hear the facilities and services could handle the crowds. This is when a resort shows it's true character.

I think you forgot to mention the rubbish is removed almost on a daily basis. No stinking bins.

One need to take the general remarks regarding this resort into account, there were a few on other threads, and my impression is that the majority of campers rate this resort as a good place to go back to.

I have never been there, but based on the general feedback on this firum, I would  ike to go and camp there someday.

After reading the first posting made me feel way so upset, the camper rated the park high? _ their positives outway the negatives.

Vervlaks, eks ook altyd aan verkeerde kant van die heining... eerlikwaar hou ek persoonlik niks van die oord nie, was altyd jaloers tot ek self daar was, neewat, ek kamp maar by warmbad.. 

Kyk daai karavaanpark bestaan al vandat ek 'n "Chokkertjie" was. Die plek was nog altyd n gewilde oord. Het al by mense gekuier daar maar nooit self daar gekamp nie.

Ek ken ook glad nie die oord nie, maar dink dit is baie omverantwoordelik om gedurende die verblyf sommer hul tarief vir die hondjie op testoot, ek sou ook knorrig gewees het en hulle mis in die toekoms as so iets met my gebeur, maar om hulle blatant uit te haal op openbare forum, moet mens liewer die hele storie van albei kante hoor. 'n Wors het twee kante.

Ek neem die bestuur kwalik dat hulle toegelaat het dat 'n hond daar enigsins kamp in hoog seisoen. Hulle reels is duidelik in die verband. Deur hulle eie reels te breek het hulle dalk 'n presedent geskep.

Ivan - WELL SAID - you are entitled and have a right to share your experiences with us, even if one small issue is a major problem to you. We don't have to agree. I too have been cursed and even sworn at for raising a dislike.

However the lesson members should be learning here, is rather to check before they arrive and then turned away due to "restrictions" or tariffs which upset.

The park is also known to me from when I still caravanned with my parents, back in '67 and I have also seen deterioration. Despite this, the park remains popular and still gets a lot of good feedback. As far as I know, this is still a municipal park - if so, it is still probably the best muncipal park in the country.

We were in Scottburgh during November and doubt if we will go back, due to the rough sand in the swimming area and beach shops (i.e. Wimpy etc). Fortunately there are plenty of good parks on the coast.

Ivan, that is what makes this and other forums so useful, in our early days, we had to go to a place and see firsthand what you get, noadays, we can share opinions with all.

One must just strive to be constructive in ones critisism, dont feel offended, I have been over reacting many times in my life, but try to rectify my mistakes later .
