Any recommendations, going to be travelling from Cape Town to Kgalagadi.

Wanting to have 2 stop overs.

Make your 2nd stop 2 nights at Augrabies National Park.   From there to Twee Rivieren is 370km of which the stretch from Upington to 2R is a 260km route of little to nothing.  In April 2025 we are moving from 2R to Aug for a 2 nighter.   

Ist stop - sorry I do not know the lower area to make a recommendation.

Ons hou van die Karoo Nasionale Park en Travalia (goeie oornag stop en goedkoop vir woonwa / Motorhome) of dan Kambro. Noord van Kambro weet ek nie tot by Red Sands Buite Kuruman.

Weet nie hoe ver jy per dag gaan sleep nie?

You could try Strandfontein or Springbok Kokerboom Motel (not the municipal park). The one next to the N7 National road just before Springbok. Also just past Upington going north to 2R the Kalahari Monate Lodge also has nice camping. We have camped and stayed at all three and they were good for stop overs.

Peter - I believe you plan to take the N7 from Cape Town. There are two parks between Cape Town and Springbok that you can consider as first sleep-over. Rondeberg (north of Clanwilliam on the Bulshoek Dam) and Kroon Lodge in Kamieskroon.

Augrabies Falls National Park is a good place for your second stop-over or even Oranjerus near Upington.

I can recommend Rondeberg.

Ek het nie besef dat daar karavaan staanplek by Travalia is nie. Een van my gunsteling oornag plekke. Oornag altyd daar as ons Kaap toe ry  - sonder karavaan 

Daar is slegs 2 staanplekke by Travalia, maar hulle stel dit slegs aan dieselfde groep beskikbaar aangesien daar slegs een badkamer en toilet is (terloops - baie netjies soos hulle ander akkommodasie). Ons bly ook graag daar oor - in die groter kamers aan die regterkant soos wat jy die plaaswerf inry. Puik oornagplek!! En eet graag ontbyt by hulle uitstekende padstal waar ons gewoonlik ook van hulle netjiese vleisprodukte koop.

Our normal stops on that route are Rondeberg, Springbok Inn and Augrabies NP. However when time permits we also use Oranjerus or Kalahari Monate on the way up or down to stock up with provisions in Upington.

Springbok Inn (by Country Hotes) has a few reasonable caravan sites on their premises and we enjoyed a few days there a couple of years ago after moving from Springbok Caravan Park! You have use of the hotel facilities and there is someone on duty 24/7.

I've heard good reports about Kroon Lodge and may try it next year en route to Twee Rivieren.

Our normal stops back are Upington, Kambro and then Karoo NP. (N10, N12, & N1)

Goegap Game Reserve just outside Springbok is a gem 👍👍

In Kamieskroon we camped at Kamieskroon Hotel. We used this as a base to explore the Hondklip Bay area. We had a look at Verbe Caravan park and gave it a miss.

You could also try Die Punt Campsite. Between Kakamas and Keimoes. It is on the Orange River. Well grassed stands.

Steenbokkie net noord van Beaufort-Wes, was baie aangenaam toe ons in 2016 vir 'n week daar was. Dit is regoor die Karoo Gateway lughawe en op GoogleMaps.
