I have seen a number of threads, mostly negative - but also mostly historic.

So, at the risk of receiving a flaming for asking the same question, but also for the purpose of giving the resort management a fair shout at new business . . .

1. Has anyone camped / caravaned at Manyane in the past 6-12 months?
- what is your experience of the sites, the ablutions and the facilities.

2. Same question for Bakgatla

3. These two resorts aside - are there any alternatives for caravaning in Pilanesburg?

Last December we camped at Bakgatla and will not go again, it was very run down. Manyane is very busy that time of year. We like it calm.

We also camped at Bakgatla in August and aslo found it run down. The ablutions was ok-ish and better than Manyane but the capsite itself was very dusty with no grass. The pool was the big attraction. Even the shop was very empty with very few items to sell.

It is sad to see how Manyane is going down the dumps. We started camping there a few years ago and it was one of our favourite places to go camping in the winter. We use to take some meat and have a braai at one of the areas in the park, but the last time we were there it was disgusting to see the ablutions and the braai areas in the park, I don’t think it’s safe to braai there anymore. Further the road conditions in the park are also deteriorating every time you get there. I was shocked to read someone else’s message now the other day about Manyane and how green the camp sites where full of grass cannot actually belief that there was green grass. Let’s hope they pay attention to these mails and start to re-build what was once there.

Ek kamp op die oomblik by Bakgatla en ja dit is seker nie 5 ster soos dit was in die verlede nie. Ons kamp elke jaar vir die laaste 6 jaar by Pilansberg op Desember as gevolg van my werks omstandighede. Ek werk oor Desember maar my vrou en kinders is af dan gaan kamp ons daar en ek ry elke dag van daar af werk toe en terug. Laas jaar was die kamp in 'n baie slegte kondisie en het my self belowe nie weer nie. Maar nou ja ons kamp weer die jaar maar moet sê dit het baie verbeter die laaste 3 maande. Die park het groot geldelike probleme gehad maar verstaan hulle het 'n skenking gekry van 2 Miljoen om die plek weer reg te kry. Ons kom baie daar seker so 5 tot 6 keer 'n jaar en moet sê toe ons daar was in November by Mananje was dit 100 mal beter. Kom ons hoop Pilansberg word weer soos die ou dae!!! Moet sê die kamp is vol die jaar en die badkamers word 100% skoon gehou. Ek het gister gisien dit word somer 5 keer per dag skoon gemaak.

Go Pilansberg!!!!!

Dit sal vir ons hier in die rant die beste ding wees. Die groot vyf letterlik op ons voorstoep.

Ons was by Manyane in Junie het vreeslik geniet. Badkamers was altyd netjies alhoewel ek gehoor het dit was mooier. Sal weer gaan.

This is my first time participating on this forum. Im a new camper from Bela-bela and only recently started camping with my wife and daugter.
I have been following numerous conversations on this forum and followed most advise given and really enjoying it as well.
Im replying to this topic as I feel it unnecessary to start a new one as so many of you have already paticipated on it so far.
Can anyone give any feedback on Manyane or Bakgatla in the last month or so? Say for March 2014?
My sister and her family is visiting from the states in July and we would love to show them the big 5 and camping in South Africa without putting them off one or both due to rundown or negleted infrastructure.

Im hopeful for some feedback.

This just shows how life is - We drove through Bakgatla a few years ago, used the ablutions and had a "life long off putting experience" and plan to NEVER go there again - filth at its best!

Unfortunately "never" is not as long as it means and weI may be FORCED to go there, depending on the need?????

We would rather look around and plan a days travel and be assured of less dissappointment.
