KareeKloof - Suikerbosrand
Information received:
Dear All
Kareekloof forms part of the package of Tourism and Hospitality Facilities that Protea Hotel managed on behalf of GDARD. The Tourism and Hospitality Facilities were subjected to wear and tear during the time period that the facilities were operational. As a result, these facilities are closed to allow for the undertaking of the in-depth situational analysis on all Tourism and Hospitality
Facilities, as part of the Turnaround Strategy and implementation plan that is currently being developed for Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve. In short, the situation analysis comprise the following aspects: current state of infrastructure; current state of security and access control; current state of revenue generation; current governance and operational model; the state of
equipment and facilities; current marketing system; etc.
Projected time frames include the delivery of a Draft Turnaround Strategy by end December 2012; and the delivery of a Final Report and Project Close-Out by end February 2013.
It should be noted that a facet of the Turnaround Strategy will identify possible quick-wins / interim arrangement possibilities. In addition, it should be noted that the possible quick-wins / interim arrangement possibilities are dependent on the findings of the situational analysis that will inform what the possible short to medium term options are for the possible operation and management of some and/or all aspects of the existing Tourism and Hospitality Facilities at Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve.
Kind regards
Eleanor

Thanks thats a good update on the status of Suikerbosrand.
Hope that GDARD can stick to their timeframes, having dealt with them before I know that they are not good keeping them. That said it's probably a consultant doing the work and they usually keep to their timeframes with the reports, just GDARD then have to process it and thats where there is usually a hiccup.
There will probably still be time needed to implement what ever plan theycome up with so camping at Suikerbosrand will still be some time away after the end of Feb 2013.
I really hope that they restore the resort it was wondeful to camp there.
We were surprised to hear that such a beautiful camp site has closed down.
Anyone nearby that can pop in for a squizz?
Willie's bit.
How can they mine for coal in a NATURE RESERVE???
This is how we spent the last fifteen years - working our buts off!
Also heard that while were staying at Malonjeni last year.
Groete
Philip
How can " they " spend 50k on takeaways in a month ?
How can they implement e-Toll ?
While the gravy train is running they, the ANC, will do anything to keep it running
Has anyone heard any more about Kareekloof ?
Bump anyone with further news on Kareekloof?
Going to Malojeni soon, will pop in with the camera.....
Cool I hope they let you in to the resort area.
The place is a disaster. All the game is gone, the only buck left is “sit-bok”.
Duncan, when are you going to Malonjeni?
