There are indeed campsites you can reach with a car, if you have reasonable ground clearance and your tyres are not to skinny.  You will also need to deflate your wheels on some roads, so will need a decent wheelpump.

Have a look at our website www.flipentilla.com and also the pictures on our Picasa albums for more details.  With the exception of Pomene, you will be ok with a 2X4 drive.

With just a sedan vehicle I would think you are limited to travel up to Bileane. It is tar road right up to the gate of the camping area but inside the resort about 300m travel at the most is only sea sand. Think you will be okay if you deflate the tires to 0.8 bar. It will bring you up to the campsite at least.

If you are still keen to go, have a look at Zavora Lodge. The lodge is accessible on a 15 km dirt road (not sand). Some places slippery when wet.

We used to go to Zavora regularly and saw standard vehicles there all the time.

For what it's worth.

Take a supply of syringes with needles / alcohol wipes & intravenous drip kits with. At least you will know the sterilisation status and not have second / third time round medical equipment used on you…

camped in Moz a few times with a Jetta 2 and no problems. Bilene just stay near the gate , Xai Xai almost on the beach, Tofo at Nordines in a chalet on the beach almost as cheap as camping , Morrongulo also on the beach but not in rainy season , Josef e Tina in Vilanculos almost on the beach and lastly Goody Villas in Inhassorro on the beach and best grass sites in Moz. We managed to stay at all these campsites with no problems and only had to get our trailer towed out of Morrungulo because it was too steep for our car and Zippa trailer.We only go out of season and between late April to mid June and have always had a great time.
